Class Description

Music Theatre
Getting up on stage requires more than just talent, one must learn how to work hard and continue learning new techniques about music theater to help them grow! This class will focus on all of the three elements of musical theater: music, dance and drama! You'll learn how to pick-up choreography quicker, how best to learn and memorize lines, correct vocal techniques, and how that all translates onto the stage. By the end of this class you'll be ready to take the stage with confidence! This class will feature songs and dances from "Shrek: The Musical"!

Jessica Thomas

Jessica has had a love for musical theatre since she was five years old. She grew up performing in shows at community theaters in her hometown of Orange County, California. She relocated to Wichita upon graduating high school to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Musical Theatre at Wichita State University. After two years of study, Jessica felt God calling her to change her major to elementary education. Now, Jessica works in the Wichita Public School District as a fourth grade teacher. She has been involved with CYT for four years as both a teacher and a stage manager. She is grateful for the opportunity to share her love for Jesus and theatre with the kids of CYT, alongside her husband, Robert.

Caroline Whiteside

Caroline Whiteside is a Wichita native who has grown up participating in CYT Wichita. She has been blessed with opportunities to choreograph for Andale High School, Douglass High School, Andover Central High School, CYT Wichita Summer Camps, and CYT Wichita Enrollment Shows. Caroline was also an assistant to the director for CYT’s 2016-2017 Winter Show, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. She studied at Butler Community College and graduated with an associate degree in Secondary Education and was on vocal scholarship where she participated in Headliners and was one of their choreographers. Caroline is excited to deepen her relationship with the students of CYT and to help them grow in their love for the theatre!
