Class Description

One-Act Plays
Getting up on stage requires more than just talent, one must learn how to work hard and continue learning new techniques about music theater to help them grow! The One-Acts will focus on the original element of the theater: drama! You'll learn how to work with a small ensemble of actors and grow in advanced techniques of acting. By the end of this class you'll be ready to take the stage with confidence!

Robert Thomas

Robert graduated from Wichita State University with a BFA in Theatre Performance. While at WSU, Robert had the opportunity to participate in various productions from both a performance and technical standpoint. Robert is certified in stage combat, including knife and unarmed fighting. He has had the opportunity to teach acting and stage combat classes for CYT, as well as direct productions of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Honk. Robert is grateful for the many opportunities that CYT has provided him to pass on his love for storytelling to the next generation.

Lisa Paine

Lisa has been at CYT Wichita since 2009, performing in the first show, “Robin Hood.” In 2011, she began college at Friends University and graduated in 2016 with degrees in English Literature and Theatre. While studying at college, she assistant directed, directed, wrote a one-act, and performed in multiple shows. Her journey with CYT began as a student, but has since included roles such as stage manager and assistant director. She had the opportunity to be the director for the 2015 “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown,” and 2018’s production of, “Annie.” Directing “Annie” was a particularly special experience as she portrayed “Ms Hannigan” in 2011 as her senior show with CYT. Recently returning from spending 3 months at a missions and leadership school in England, Lisa is excited to rejoin the CYT community and continue sharing her love of acting and directing with the kids. Lisa has also worked with the at-risk youth community in Wichita through Legacy Ministries leading summer camps that promote worth and identity in Christ through the arts. She is honored to have the opportunity to work with the students to tell a story that will impact and influence both them and the surrounding community. In everything she does, she wants to bring the love that Jesus has for us all. To God be the Glory, great things he has done.
